The nightmares which have plagued you from early childhood have returned, and in full force. You take quick peek out into the forest beside your home through your small bedroom window, that your mother insisted be made smaller to keep out the werewolves. That was what your nightmare was about. *page_break The large group of villagers that have been infected with the dark disease, which was called by the doctors, "lycanthropy", have terrorized your village for a short time that felt like years. "We're still human now, but we're going to be very hungry come twilight." His eyes glowed eerily in the darkness of the alley. Your worst nightmare. Their grip on your neck tightens, although you try to fight back. "Either come to this exact alley yourself, or send someone else. If no one comes.. Well, you can say goodbye to your mother. And your life." You can't recognize their voices. How do they know about her? *page_break They push you out, and when you find the courage to peek back in, they're gone. You start walking home, thinking about this encounter. You quickly shut it in fear. A werewolf, which looks fiercer than you imagine, starts walking past where you are hiding. Then it stops. *page_break Stay in the bushes The werewolf takes a few sniffs in the air. You've heard they can smell fear, and you hope that it's just a wild rumour. Then it looks you straight in the eyes. You back up a little. It might have seen you, but it might not have. *choice #Use the element of surprise to my advantage, and stab it. *set infection 1 *set bravery +5 You summon all of your bravery, and for some reason, your thoughts fall to your father as you stab the werewolf in the heart. This is much harder than you thought it would be. The werewolf's skin is like iron. He swipes his claw across your face, temporarily blinding you. When you finally arrive at the location, you realize that they must have thought you were late, and already came to your house. Or they just got hungry before midnight. *choice #Go back to your house, where you heard the wolves before. You head back to your house, and abruptly hear some noises from behind it. You sigh in relief, and then settle down in the nearest alley for a good night's rest. A common occurrence in the village, a werewolf suspect being executed. The crowd obscures your vision, and you push through them to get a better look... *page_break And you see your mother. Her neck is encircled by a tight rope, the other side of which was in the executioner's hand. The sheriff, Jack Mason, oversaw the entire operation. *choice #I called out immediately, begging for them to stop! *set intelligence +2 You call out, but sheriff Mason knocks you to the ground. *goto knock_down #I was too shocked to do anything.
